Questions, answered plainly.

How do I set Autext up?

Sign in with Google, allow calendar access, pick the diary that holds client visits, and keep the default: one text the day before, with your business name at the front. Tick the permission box. Then use Add test appointment. Autext puts a visit with your name and mobile on the calendar and texts you straight away, without using a credit.

Where does the mobile number go?

In the event title, for example “Sarah Jones 0412 345 678 Haircut”. Autext also checks the description, the location, and guest names. The full name is saved, so next time “Sarah Jones” is enough. A first name alone will not match, and neither will two saved clients with the same full name. Landlines are ignored. If an event has two mobiles, label the right one: “mobile: 0412 345 678”. You can also import a CSV.

When do texts go out?

You choose up to three times per calendar: 15 minutes, 1, 2 or 6 hours, 1 or 2 days, a week, 10 days, a month, or the morning of the visit. The morning send is about 8 am, or 8 pm the evening before if the visit starts before 10 am. Anything that would land between 10 pm and 7 am is moved to about 8 pm. Times use the business timezone, Brisbane unless you change it.

What if I book someone after the reminder time?

A day-before reminder still goes out if the visit is at least 12 hours away, during the day. Otherwise that reminder is marked missed and a closer one can cover it. The message log says why a text did not go.

What happens when I move a visit?

Unsent reminders move with the new time. If the client was already told the old time, they get a change text a few minutes after your last edit, and at most three of those. Delete the event and nothing further goes out. Autext checks the event again just before sending.

Can clients reply?

Yes. Every plan texts from the one shared Autext number, and every reminder starts with the business name. A reply is matched to the latest reminder sent to that mobile. If two businesses have texted the same person, Autext asks which booking instead of guessing. C or Y confirms and the event is marked green. X cancels it. R sends open weekday slots. STOP opts them out. START opts them back in.

Do I need permission to text?

Yes. Your business is responsible for it. Tell people at booking that you will text about the appointment, and keep reminders separate from promotions. The Spam Act expects a commercial message to identify the sender and offer a working unsubscribe. Autext puts your business name at the front and “Reply STOP to opt out” at the end. A factual appointment reminder is treated differently from advertising, but the footer stays on.

What is a credit?

One credit is one SMS part. A standard text holds 160 characters. Longer texts split, and emoji or some punctuation make each part shorter. The preview shows the count before you save. Plan credits reset monthly and do not roll over. Packs do.

What is in the trial?

21 days on the Pro feature set: three calendars, review texts, quote follow-ups, and the AI receptionist in beta (draft only until you turn on auto-send). You get 50 texts to use while setting up. No card. When it ends, sending stops until you choose a plan. If you subscribe during the trial, unused trial texts move to your pack balance.

What are review texts, quotes, and the receptionist?

Review texts are on every plan. After a visit, the client gets a link. Four or five stars open your Google review page. One to three stay on your Reviews page and on Today. Quote follow-ups are on Pro and Team: day 1, day 3, and day 7 unless you change the days, and they stop when the person replies or you mark the quote won or lost. The AI receptionist is on Team and in beta on Pro. It is off until you enable it, and it drafts a reply unless you choose auto-send. Those texts use SMS credits. Nothing goes out between 8pm and 8am, and STOP still opts the number out.

Can a team share this?

Team includes as many calendars as you connect and staff who sign in with Google. They share the credit pool. Starter is one calendar. Pro is three. Each calendar can keep its own send times and, if you want, its own wording.
